Positions

1. Academic Research and Mentoring

1.1 That the AEGSEG position itself in favour of conducting a biannual follow-up of the mandatory supervision agreement between graduate students and their research supervisor in order to identify potential improvements as well as the measures to be taken to improve the students’ handling of the agreement.
1.2 That the AEGSEG take a position in favour of the implementation of mandatory training for research supervisors on the supervision of graduate students
1.2.1 That this training be prior to the acquisition of the status of associate professor; and That this training be attended by all associate professors of the FSG within one year of its establishment.
1.3 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of open access to scientific research and its financing by public funds.

2. Student Financial Assistance and Tuition Fees

2.1 That AEGSEG position itself in favor of an improvement in the funding available, in terms of quantity and amounts, for all students, including international students, and for their qualification for the achievement scholarships offered by the FSG and its donors.
2.2 That AEGSEG position itself in favor of a reduction in tuition fees for all students, including international students.
2.3 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of greater transparency from the FSG regarding the funds available to students and the publication of the status of these funds via the FSG website.

3. International Students

3.1 That the AEGSEG position itself in favour of raising awareness among representatives of faculty and departmental student associations of the issues of integration of international students into university life and Quebec society.
3.2 That the AEGSEG position itself in favor of a greater participation of international students in the associative life within the AEGSEG.
3.3 That the AEGSEG position itself for a promotion of the integration of international students into Quebec society following their graduation.
3.4 That the AEGSEG position itself in favour of better accessibility of resources for learning French as a second language.

4. Environment and sustainable development

4.1 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of the FSG’s revision of its training offer so that sustainable development occupies a more important place in the curriculum of all its students.
4.2 That AEGSEG take a position in favour of banning the use of any form of single-use plastic at events held at the FSG as well as for self-service sales.
4.3 That AEGSEG supports the demands of the movement La planète s’invite à l’université (now CEVES) on 25 September 2019, which consist of the following:
4.3.1 Governments to establish an environmental education and climate crisis awareness programme, in partnership with young citizens;
4.3.2 Governments must adopt a climate law that, with the help of degrowth, forces the achievement of the targets recommended by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. The IPCC calls for a 50% reduction in global CO2 emissions by 2030, net CO2 emissions to zero by 2050, and also calls for a nearly 50% reduction in methane emissions by 2050;
4.3.3 Educational institutions greater transparency regarding their investments, the withdrawal of investments in fossil fuels and the maintenance of an institutional carbon footprint in order to be able to target the largest sources of GHG emissions with a view to reducing them;
4.3.4 Governments must respect the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, until consultation with affected Indigenous communities.
4.4 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of improving the infrastructure and systems put in place for the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste within the FSG.
4.5 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of improving public transit, cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, and in favour of reducing the place of the automobile in the community, mainly on campus.

5. Mental Health & Well-Being

5.1 That the AEGSEG position itself in favour of the creation of more rest and relaxation areas for students at the FSG.
5.2 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of better access to psychology consulting services at Université Laval.
5.3 That the AEGSEG position itself in favour of linking the Quebec health network with the psychological services offered by Université Laval for the rapid and effective care of people suffering from psychological distress.

6. Living conditions

6.1 That the AEGSEG position itself in favor of a minimum financial compensation for FSG graduate students.
6.2 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of increasing the minimum wage in line with inflation and the minimum conditions for a decent lifestyle.
6.3 That AEGSEG position itself in favour of increasing the availability of affordable rents.
